Sikhcess goes around the global feeding homeless

Sikh volunteers have set sights across the global to do the same works of feeding homeless which they started and successfully fulfilled in thriving but socially-disheartened city of Vancouver.

It all started on Jan last year when a group called Sikhcess launched a campaign with initial goal of distributing 15,000 food packages to Vancouver’s homeless population within the past 12 months.

Today, Sikhcess continue its community service expansion, taking off in four continents: North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Sikhcess is dedicated to promoting the basic Sikh principles of public service, community, and equality for mankind as it unveiled plans for international expansion of its ‘Feed the Homeless’ campaign.

“We're very excited about the response we’ve received from around the globe, prompting the international expansion of our campaign,” says Sikhcess Executive Director Amit Singh. “This expanded program positions us to help more people and to create a positive impact, worldwide.”

Singh also extended invitation to volunteers from all groups, communities, and walks of life to participate and continue supporting our efforts as we continue to further grow and expand our program to ‘Feed the Homeless’ throughout the world.

After successfully distributing over 70,000 individual food packages across North America last
year, Sikhcess volunteers are now intensifying efforts to feed the homeless and hungry globally, in: United States, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

The Sikh institution of ‘Langar’ was started by the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak. It is the only free kitchen of its kind in the world, collectively serving millions around the globe each year, regardless of gender, social standing, caste, color, religious affiliation, or beliefs.

Through this ideal of equality, the tradition of Langar expresses the ethics of sharing, community, inclusiveness, and oneness of all humankind. Working to help address homeless hunger, Sikhcess™ has taken ‘Langar’ (or ‘Free Kitchen’) to those on the streets.

On November 17, 2007, Sikhcess™ launched its first large-scale ‘Feed the Homeless’ campaign with great success. Volunteers throughout North America distributed nearly 50,000 individual food packages to the homeless and needy in just one night - the largest campaign of its kind.

“It’s now time to broaden the initiative and capitalize on our momentum by aggressively expanding this effort, globally,”adds Mr. Singh. Inquiries to volunteer and donations of food for distribution contact: [email protected] or to Mr. Amit Singh at 248-990-1245.
