On July 23, a creature will emerge from the depths of the sea.

On July 26, love will save the world.

On July 30, we will be reminded of the power of dreams.

On Aug. 2, the creature will return to the sea, destroyed by the power of love and dreams.

These are the themes for this year’s Celebration of Lights. This four-part extravaganza includes fireworks from Canada, the U.S. and China, as well as a Grand Finale on Aug. 2.

Last year Canada was the big winner, and the year before that, it was Mexico. Could this year be China’s turn, having last won back in 2003?

The four individual displays of fireworks will be launched from English Bay, beginning at 10 p.m.

This year, you be the judge. Through text messaging you can rate each night’s display of lights on a scale from one to 10. Just text the word ‘light’ to 24365 to cast your vote for the years People’s Choice Award winner.
