Kids star in benefit concert

Kikz presents the All for Love concert, featuring 8-year-olds JJR Cepeda and Blessie Rivera on Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m., in the Michael J. Fox Theatre.

Special guests include Isabelle Monay, Marcelyn Bacomo, Nicole Lontayao, Cassey Natura, Alexis Rombano, the KMZ Singers, La Riva Dancers and Sweet Serenity.

The concert will benefit Sister Families, an initiative started more than 13 years ago as a joint project between Rotary Clubs in California and Brazil. The Brazilian program has been successful in placing over 500 babies from institutions into loving homes. Most of these children have been adopted by their respective "Sister Families."

On the recommendation of Rotary International, the program was extended to other areas of the world. Bacolod City, in The Philippines, was selected as the first location in Asia to host a Sister Families Program.

In every society there are babies born to mothers who are unable to care for them. In The Philippines many of these babies are cared for by their extended families, but those less fortunate are usually placed in an orphanage. The intention of Sister Families is to use existing foster care legislation to direct these children into loving foster homes.

Previously, KMZ Productions have raises more than $5,000 at fundraising concerts in 2006 and 2007.

Concert tickets are $15 and can be ordered by calling Kikz or Rita at 604.879.5594.
