Joint India-Pakistan celebration planned by Urdu Association


On Aug. 14 and 15 Pakistan and India respectively turned 61. Pakistanis and Indians all over the world celebrated these days with grandeur.


In keeping with an annual tradition, the Canada Urdu Association presents its grand Jashn-e-Azadi Mushaira to commemorate the independence days of both nations.


The event will take place at Pakistan House, 12053- 88th Ave. in Surrey at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30.


Prominent local Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi poets will present their poetry. This is a free event that all are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
