Pritam tried to be different in Dhoom 2

Pritam Chakraborty is on a high after hitting jackpot with almost all his musical releases — Dhoom, Chocolate, Gangster, Woh Lamhe and Apna Sapna Money Money.

However, you mention Dhoom 2 and he gets defensive: “I’m sorry if I have disappointed people with Dhoom 2 but the idea was not to create a regular mainstream OST. I’m getting a fabulous feedback from the young but many critics have panned my work.”

Pritam has also worked on a Dhoom 2 jingle and says, “I like doing jingles as they help you break the monotony.” Pritam belongs to the new generation of composers who’ve introduced a contemporary edge in Bollywood music. And why not? After all, he hails from the well-known Bangla rock band, Chandrabindu.

He says that this is just the beginning of the rock revolution in mainstream Bollywood. “I want to induce rock in small doses,” he says.

And like other multi-tasking composers, Pritam, too, is going to appear on the screen — he will be doing a cameo in Anurag Basu’s forthcoming movie Metro. Besides, he is also scouting for other members of the onscreen band for Metro.
