Imperial Hotel Management College

Imperial Hotel Management College (IHMC) is a career training college which offers a 9-month Executive Hotel Management Diploma Program allowing students the opportunity to live, study and gain work experience in full service hotels across Canada.

IHMC uses the industry-endorsed curriculum from the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) as the foundation of the academic portion of our program. In addition to the AHLA curriculum students also complete workshops, assignments and group projects. Throughout the program students have industry specialists as their instructors and mentors.

What makes IHMC different from most other hotel schools is that we have designed the hotel work experience as an integrated part of the curriculum. Instead of leaving students to look for internship themselves, we pre-arrange up to 500 hours of work experience for IHMC students at our hotel campuses throughout the 9 months.

After the 3-week orientation period, students will immediately start their training at our chain of teaching hotels. Students will be assigned a supervisor and are taught on the job, usually one on one. Students work 3 hours per day Monday to Friday, and usually spend 2-3 weeks in each department. At the end of the program students receive feedback from trainers, as well as reference letters from the General Manager of each hotel where they have worked during the program. By the end of the program students will have worked in every department (from accounting to executive office, from catering to banqueting to kitchen, from front desk to housekeeping, etc.)

Prospective students are welcome to drop by our administration office in Vancouver for more information on IHMC and also for a tour of one of our hotel campuses. Our office is open Monday to Friday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. They can email us at [email protected] or call 1-604-688-3115 to set up an appointment.
