Written by Ritesh Batra, The Lunchbox is the story about a grieving widower who falls in love with an unknown lady whose letters he gets through his lunchbox. Although by mistake, the letter she had been writing for her husband to get his attention, the widower receives. When she realizes the mistake, she confronts him with a note, and then starts a peculiar kind of a love story through the exchange of a 'Lunchbox'.
 
Anand Gandhi has addressed the idea of the self, change and death through the film 'Ship of Theseus'. Through the stories of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and an enterprising stockbroker, Gandhi has discussed questions of non-violence, altruism and responsibility. The film proved to be a path-breaking work in cinema and got him a new identity in the field.
 
Shahid, based on the life of a lawyer and human rights activist, Shahid Azmi, was assassinated in 2010 in Mumbai. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the movie portrays the socio-political reality existing in India at its best. A scene in the movie where Shahid Azmi is attacked is based on the assult that Hansal Mehta himself faced by the Shiv Sena against his film Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar. Raj Kumar Yadav playing the lead even went naked for the role and impressed his critics with his acting skills in the movie.
 
Bombay Talkies is a 2013 Indian anthology film celebrating hundre years of Indian cinema. The movie consists of four short films directed by four top-notch filmmakers of Bollywood that includes Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar. Bombay Talkies was praised by the critics for its concept, sequencing of the stories and the pace of the movie.
'B.A.Pass' explores sex, seduction and betrayal in its plot. The story is about a college boy in the city, who gets seduced by a lady whom he meets at some kitty party. He falls for her and their relationship twists his entire life.
 
Inspired by the 1999 hit-and-run case of Sanjeev Nanda, Jolly LLB is a power-packed courtroom drama. The movie starring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani in the lead roles shows him focussing on his attempt to seek justice for innocent wage earners. The movie celebrates the spirit of the common man seeking justice and impartiality.
Partly based on O. Henry's 1907 short story The Last Leaf, Lootera is a period romantic drama set in 1950s. The movie is a heartwarming romantic story directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Some critics even compared the music of this album to late Pancham Da's swan song, 1942-A Love Story.
 
Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, Kai Po Che! stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Raj Kumar Yadav and Amit Sadh. The movie portrays the intense love and affection that they share for each other, which gets tarnished by communal politics following riots. As a consequence, the differences between them deepens, which follows a tragic death in the movie. The movie proved to be a Bollywood ticket for TV star turned Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was flooded with offers after this.
 
Special Chabbis, a thriller, is based on the robbery that took place on 19th March 1987, when 26 people posing as income tax officials raided a jewellery store in Opera House, Mumbai. Although the critics found the love-angle in the story unnecessary but they considered the film as one of the best films of the year.
 
 Directed by Nikhil Advani,  D-Day explores the secret mission undertaken by Indian security services agents. In this political action thriller, the secret agent is required to keep a track of activities of India's most wanted D-Company syndicate leader. The movie was regarded as one of the most controversial and high octane thrillers.
