International Punjabi Literature Prize Bridges Borders

From January 12 to March 15, 2016, authors who have published novels or short story collections in 2015 can submit their works for the $25,000 CDN first prize of the Dhahan Prize. Two second prizes of $5,000 CDN will also be awarded. The works must be published in either of the Punjabi scripts, Gurmukhi and Shamukhi.
Submissions should be made electronically and as a hard copy. The electronic version of the book should be submitted at www.dhahanprize.com. Two hard copies of the printed book must also be delivered to: Canada-India Education Society, Unit 1058—2560, Shell Road, Richmond, BC V6X 0B8 Canada.
 The Dhahan Prize for Punjabi Literature was established in 2013 to recognize excellence in Punjabi literature, and to inspire the creation of Punjabi writing across borders. The prize is awarded at the international level each year to three books of fiction.
At the Dhahan Prize Gala, there were Darshan Singh, the 2015 first prize winner for his novel Lota, and Nain Sukh, the 2015 second prize winner for his novel Madho Lal Hussain – Lahore Di Vel, written in the Shahmukhi script, who attended.
