Peter Johal’s book sheds light on Sikhism

What started out as a photographic project blossomed into a book, notes Peter Johal, who released his book ‘Anandpur Chronicles: Volume 1’ recently.
“This book’s ambition is to start having a look at Sikhism, what it has gone through in history, which separates them as a unique identity in today’s society,” Johal says. “My ambition is for the readers to understand that Sikhism survived brutal conditions. This where the history behind the Sikh Turban and the 5 symbolic K’s of Sikhism was developed, promoting their unique identity.”
He says that equality and humanity separate this particular faith and protests these beliefs through turbulent times in history. Anandpur was an integral part of protecting these beliefs.
“Anandpur Chronicles: Volume 1” is the story of the ninth and tenth teachers of Sikhism, with the events that occurred with them, mostly in Anandpur. These historical events led to a transformation in the culture and identity of the Sikh population,” he says.
