The Forbes list for the highest-paid actresses placed the Black widow actress, Scarlett Johansson, on the top with a revenue of USD 56 million (around 400 crores). The Indian stars, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, who took their careers to an international platform, were not on the list this time. Following Scarlett Johansson on the list was the modern family star, Sofia Vergara with earnings to amount to USD 44.1 million (Rs.315 crore).

Some of the other names on the list were Reese Witherspoon with the earnings of USD 35 million which is around Rs.250 crore, Nicole Kidman with USD 34 million (243 crores) and Jenifer Aniston with USD 28 million (around Rs.200 crore). Although none of the Indian actresses made it on the list, Akshay Kumar found a spot as fourth on the Forbes list for the highest-paid actors. With a revenue of USD 65 million (Rs 466 crore), he is preceded only by Dwanye Johnson USD 89.4 million, Chris Hemsworth USD 76.4 million and Robert Downey Jr USD 66 million.

Dwayne Johnson makes USD 89.4 million while Scarlett Johannson makes USD 56 million. This displays the wage gap problem with clarity. Scarlett Johannson topped the list after charging a significant amount to Disney’s Marvel Studio for the upcoming Black Widow. Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame were also her crutches to climb to the top.

As for the Indian actresses who were bumped off the list for now, both the stars have not had any recent big projects. Deepika’s last 2018 Padmavaat was the last release we saw her in. Priyanka featured small roles in films like “a kid like Jake” and “Isn’t it romantic.” However, they are both working on new and upcoming projects. Deepika is busy shooting for her role in 83 while Priyanka will be in the next season, “the sky is Pink.” Maybe they will find their place on the list again in the future. Only time will tell.
