SFU Surrey's Openhouse

Over 1500 high school students, parents and members of the public attended Simon Fraser University Surrey's sixth annual open house in Surrey's award-winning Central City complex on Wednesday, February 21, from 4-8 p.m.

The Open House offered something for everyone.  People could tour the new campus, hear presentations on academic programs, view student projects and faculty demonstrations, see interactive displays, or ask questions of current students and professors.

Faculty and students were on hand to show off their work and answer questions on several programs, including interactive arts and technology, computing science, business administration, education, health sciences, arts and social sciences, science and continuing studies. In addition, there was entertainment on the main stage, including the popular Indo-Canadian band Dilvog and dance demonstrations by the university's salsa club.

Several prizes were awarded to lucky high school students in attendance, including a laptop computer, a cellphone, iPods, gift certificates, and board games.

People who weren't able to attend the open house shouldn't despair. Tours are available every Thursday at 4 p.m. on the mezzanine level of the campus. Go to www.surrey.sfu.ca/p_studentsfor more information, or call 778-782-7400.
