Mississauga South Asian artist nominated third time

Last year Vandana Vishwas decided to quit her day job and devoted her attention to her passion - music. The architect-turned-musician has been nominated for 'Best World' music award at the 2015 Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMA). This is the Mississauga-based South Asian World Music artist’s third nomination at TIMA. She was also nominated in 2010 and 2014.
The Toronto Independent Music Awards provide up-and-coming artists to international opportunities. On October 23, 2015 the Toronto Independent Music Awards will be announced in a grand Award Gala celebrating 11 years of supporting Canadian independent music with nominees and winners in 17 categories at Revival in Toronto, Ontario.
She is one of the few original south Asian music composers and producers in Canada. In her short career so far, she has already won US Indies Vox-Pop for best World song, Mississauga Arts Council's Marty award for Performing Arts, Toronto Exclusive Magazine's Toronto Best World CD award, Woman Hero award by Indo-Canadian Arts & Culture Initiative and has been nominated for Canadian Indies, OAC's KM Hunter award apart from the TIMA awards noted above.
Vandana has two self-composed and produced original music albums 'Meera The Lover' and 'Monologues', and a single 'Samarasiddha'. Currently Vandana is working on her two new albums, due to be released next year.
