From electro, breaks, psychedelic trance , down-tempo, funk, bhangra, Latin+Brazilian,  Afrobeat  to the original compositions, Shaikh blends and remixes his sets, transmitting tribal grooves from ancient tradition.


He has been producing music for the past 18 years and has released four solo albums, two collaborative full-length albums and numerous individual compositions over the course of his career.


As a performer, Shaikh has played across Canada and internationally at festivals, film events and clubs — both solo and together with a wide variety of accompanying world musicians.
Over the years Shaikh has had the pleasure of working with and recording many talented musicians whose instrumentation brings together the sounds of India, Bali, Australia, Africa, Jamaica, the Middle East, Slovakia, Scandinavia, Turkey, and North America into the studio.


Playing live, Shaikh has brought the sensibility of the global village to the stage as both a solo performer and alongside these world musicians. Weaving together soundscapes of the ancient and the immediate with the tribal dub grooves, his renowned sets bridge the gap between the organic and the electronic and between inner and outer space.


Often collaborating with dancers and visual projectionists, his live shows are an uplifting and captivating multimedia experience for all ages. His shows often feature guest musicians and he plays all over the world, notably in Japan where he has a huge following


 He has been heard live at festivals and gatherings in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, Saltspring Island, Nelson and Internationally at Glastonbury and London (U.K) and Samothraki (Greece). His work has borne fruit in the form of four solo albums — Realignment, Journey to the Sun, Essence and Fusion, as well as a full length release entitled Drift with guitarist and instrumentalist Tim Floyd from the world fusion project Ekko.


Operating from his Sonicturtle Music Studio, he is currently at work on a number of multimedia projects while actively recording and composing his next albums. Recently he been involved in a project called Dubsoniq which is currently gaining momentum and vibe.
The ethno electronic artist started exploring synthesizers 15 years ago in the early 1980s and furthered his electro acoustic skills by attending Queens University.


Shaikh will have a performance with the Mad Professor, also known as Neil Fraser, on March 22 at the Commodore Ballroom.
