The PNE Summer Night Concert Series kicks off on Aug. 16. It offers a summer full of music. From the classic sounds of Trooper, to Billy Ray Cyrus, Sheena Easton and the youthful energy of Vanessa Hudgens, the Summer Night Concerts promise to keep you singing and dancing into the night. The timeless PNE icon Nearly Neil and the much loved sounds of Spirit of the West and Air Supply are also featured. There is a different show each night, and concert access is included with each Fair Gate admission ticket. The live shows are sponsored by Global Television and The Vancouver Sun. Shows begin each night at 7:30 p.m. Trooper, presented by Jack FM, is the kickoff act this year. The band is known for its great performances and pop song-writing. More than one out of every 40 Canadians owns a copy of Trooper’s six-times Platinum album, Hot Shots. On Sunday, Aug. 17, Billy Ray Cyrus, presented by JrFM, will be performing. In 1992, his debut album Some Gave All sold over nine million copies and spawned the huge international hit "Achy Breaky Heart." His latest Disney/Lyric Street release Home at Last embodies Cyrus’s musical roots, with influences from country to folk to retro rock to R&B to rockabilly to pop.
