Burnaby, B.C. – A new exhibit coming to Metropolis at Metrotown this month is capitalizing on the notion that children are more apt to make sense of science with a sense of humor. Animal Grossology, which occurs from May 15 to August 22, is an interactive, 3D exhibit based on the premise that laughing through science will make it memorable and prompt kids to question “why?” and “how?” more than they would from reading it from a text book.
Think imaginative animated characters and hands-on interactive challenges designed to engage visitors in a larger-than-life look at nature’s blood-sucking, vomit-munching, slime-making and dookie-loving creatures! Fundamental education content is captured through easy-to-read 3D book walls for a high-energy approach to learning and science.
Guests to Animal Grossology will have a chance to:
• See larger-than-life bloodsuckers and learn why they need blood and where they store it in their bodies
• Learn why a cat’s anatomy is the reason why cats spit up hairballs
• Become a scarab beetle in a retro “Atari-type” world by competing against each other in a challenging dung ball roll race
• Play Transfusion Confusion to discover which animals have what color blood
• Discover the mystery of the incredible tapeworm
• Observe an owl pellet and learn what owls eat
• Read many interesting factoids throughout the exhibit to learn about some of nature’s most interesting critters
