Emily Carr: how to twitterly flickr your facebook

Remember when the only way to collect biodata on your blind date, colleague, or work competitor was to Google them?
Facebook has made that all a distant memory, or so it feels in the rapid evolution of the world wide web.
The rise of ‘Social Media’, ie. Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc has changed the way information is spread, and what part of our lives are public versus private.
Consequently, with your radiant new online presence have come the budding issues of online pubescence.
- How do you manage multiple accounts, create a strong identity online, and still protect your privacy?
- How do you write a blog that people want to subscribe to and share with their own networks?
- Why is it essential that we cultivate these networks, and create a web strategy for ourselves and our businesses?
Students will explore all these questions and more in four new courses this fall at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, including “the Art of Social Media” and “the Art of Blogging” and “Photography for the Social Web”.
Courses are aimed at students and professionals of all ages who are exploring sites like Twitter, Facebook or Flickr to promote a creative or professional practice, or are using social media for creative projects.
