The South Asian Student Advocacy by Teachers (SASAT) group is inviting Surrey families to attend its annual South Asian Parent Education Evening for a night of free food, entertainment and support of youth education.
This year’s theme is the Whole Child, which focuses on the importance of emphasizing the arts, in conjunction with academics, in a child’s life. Art forms such as drama, music, photography and dance help children achieve fuller and richer educations. SASAT aims to inspire parents to become more involved in their children’s development.
The evening will include a Giddha performance, clips from the popular Bollywood movie 3 Idiots, speakers from SASAT, the Surrey School Board, the Community-University Research Alliance (CURA) project at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, as well as appetizers and a buffet dinner.
Attendance is free, with funding provided by the Surrey School District, Acting Together- CURA Project at Kwantlen, and the Surrey Teachers’ Association. Parents are invited to attend this event along with their school-age children on Oct. 14 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Grand Taj Banquet Hall (128 Street and 84 Avenue).
