We all know about the big media players in town: The Vancouver Sun, Global News, and Jack FM. But if you take a closer look at Vancouver’s media scene you will find a new generation of talented storytellers providing their view of the word on the street.
“Close Look” a weekly half-hour news magazine program is a rising up and comer, airing on both Shaw Cable and with smaller segments posted to YouTube.
The program was Launched by local radio host Simmy Cheema and features hosts such as Angelina Rai of RJ1200. The half hour variety style show provides a platform for Metro Vancouver youth who have aspirations in the arts, entertainment, business, community, sports and academics.
In recent months, guests on the program have included the likes of 15 year old guitar virtuoso Tommy Alto, local bands Fall With Them and also Split Theory, and Surrey based youth volunteer Nikita Lalli who has traveled to South America, India, Thailand and Africa to help children in orphanages.
Cheema launched Close Look as she felt there was a need for young local talent to have a broadcast venue to showcase their talents and share their experiences on a broader platform.
”Being on this television program and the Close Look website gives these youth more experience and exposure to help them grow their passion,” she said.
If you are someone or if you know someone who is a talented youth and a future mover and shaker visit Close Look Productions at www.closelook.ca or drop them an email at [email protected].
Close Look airs on Sundays at 1pm on Shaw Cable 4. Individual segments are also indexed and searchable on YouTube.
