Having shown recently in Surrey, the 'Komagatamaru Stories' Exhibition is now set to open in Abbotsford in August.
The paintings and narratives of this exhibition depict key incidents of Komagata Maru's stay off the Vancouver coast.
The ship with 376 passengers of Indian origin arrived in Vancouver's Burrard inlet on 23 May 1914 , and was forced
to leave on 23 July.
It reached Budge Budge Ghat, Kolkata, on 29 September,1914 only to receive much harsher treatment from local Indian authorities.
The show consists of paintings done by Jarnail Singh based on stories by Ajmer Rode which depict the story of Komagata Maru, will be Abbotsford Arts Council's 2nd Annual Arts & Heritage
Unity Festival presentation.
The Exhibition will be held at Kariton Art Gallery which is situated on 2387 Ware Street Abbotsford and run till August 31.The artists reception will be held on August 21, Sunday from 1pm to 4 pm.
