Vancouver actress brings mango flavour to Fringe

The first stage Veenesh Dubois ever starred on was a dirt floor of a hut in her native Fiji. She has come a long way since.
The Vancouver actress performs this weekend at The Fringe Festival with her highly acclaimed one-person stage show, Under the Mango Tree.
The one-woman show is based on a true story of a little girl, Tamil, left behind by her immigrant father in search of a better life.
Raised by her grandmother, Tamil waits to join her father and in the meantime, awaits his letters.
With each letter, which is read under a mango tree, comes a twist and turn in the pursuit of finding a better home abroad for the family you left behind.
Under the Mango Tree is about a playful child that grows up into a young woman who realizes her dreams, how deeply some rooted relationships are and ultimately her fate as the child of Canadian immigrant.
Dubois plays the many variations of the lead character Tamil and even the grandmother who raises her.
Under The Mango Tree shows this weekend on Saturday September 17th 3pm and on Sunday the 18th at 5:30pm at the Firehall Arts Centre.
