Vancouver’s Chinese food awards announced
Ever wonder where to find Vancouver’s best North Chinese restaurant or place for tasty dim sum?
The 2013 Chinese Restaurant Awards may help clear the confusion.
The Awards, which were recently announced for 18 categories, recognises the best Chinese food Metro Vancouver has to offer through its Critics’ Choice Awards and its Diners’ Choice Awards.
More than 34,000 ordinary Metro Vancouver diners voted for hundreds of restaurants.
Winners were named in categories ranging from best hot pot to best dim sum.
No less an authority than the New York Times has declared that Richmond has “the best Chinese food outside of China.”
Along Richmond’s Alexandra Road (a.k.a Food Street) hundreds of restaurants representing cuisine from all parts of China jam the space of just a few blocks.
The People’s Choice Awards are followed on February 26 by the Critics’ Choice Awards, where the pros weigh in on the best Chinese dishes in the city. That initiative is headed by Founding Director Craig Stowe and seven other esteemed culinary judges from the Lower Mainland.
These will be announced at a ceremony at the River Rock Casino on Tuesday, February 26.
