Special To The Post
When ABC Vancouver came into office, the team promised to be bold, innovative and relentless in delivering real solutions for our city. In just over two years, ABC Vancouver has made significant progress—actioning 80% of the 93-point platform—proving that when you prioritize results over rhetoric, real change happens.
Putting Taxpayers First with Smart Financial Management
Vancouverites deserve a city that invests wisely in their future while respecting their hard-earned dollars. That’s why we’ve made financial responsibility a top priority, striking a balance between delivering critical services and keeping taxes low.
This was achieved through smart budgeting, cutting red tape, finding efficiencies and adopting new technologies – Striking the balance between investing in key priorities and keeping costs under control.
Prioritizing Public Safety and Accountability
For too long, Vancouver’s public safety needs were neglected. ABC Vancouver changed that.
· For the first time in 15 years, we fully funded the Vancouver Police Department, and for the first time in eight years, we fully funded Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services.
· We pledged 100 new officers—and delivered 175—while strengthening mental health partnerships and revitalizing public spaces to deter crime.
The result? Overall, crime is down, making our city safer for everyone.
Investing in Infrastructure That Lasts
For years, Vancouver’s infrastructure needs have outpaced its growth. ABC Vancouver invested in a series of initiatives to build vibrant communities. We’re focused on uplifting neighbourhoods and enhancing road infrastructure, community amenities and public spaces to create a world-class city and prepare us for decades to come.
· We boosted the Capital Plan by $139 million, bringing it to $3.5 billion to renew and maintain aging infrastructure.
ABC has approved a bold plan for Moberly Park that includes a new turf field, walking track, spray park and field house, as well as a new 10,000 square foot Sunset Seniors Centre.
Elevating Sikh Voices and Stories
We are committed to honouring and celebrating the diverse communities that make our city so special.
Creating a More Vibrant and Dynamic Vancouver
We’re making it easier for world-class events to happen here, boosting tourism and creating exciting opportunities for local businesses, hotels, taxis, restaurants and our entire service sector economy.
Vancouver is on the cusp of unprecedented global opportunities, and we’re making sure our city is ready to shine. This year alone, we’ve hosted the Invictus Games and are gearing up for the Junos and Web Summit, all leading to the 2026 FIFA World Cup—a global stage that will bring thousands of visitors and millions in economic benefits.
Delivering Real Results
ABC Vancouver is proving that bold action delivers real results. We’re making our streets safer, housing more affordable and revitalizing our community hubs to reflect the diversity and energy of our city —all while keeping taxes low.
But it takes the right team at City Hall to get the job done.
On April 5, Vancouver will elect two new city councillors. Your vote isn't just about filling two council seats – it's about keeping the momentum going and building on progress.
We are stepping up to serve our community and have the experience needed to bring fresh ideas and new solutions to the table.
Together, with Mayor Ken Sim & the ABC Vancouver team, we’ll continue to invest in new services, programs & amenities to uplift our vibrant south Vancouver community.
