Rock, Reggae and Indian music

Jagua Arneja

A direct descendent of one of the Sikh Gurus of India, Jagua Arneja was born in Vancouver with music in his blood. His earliest memories include reciting Hymns and chanting religious songs that were taught to him with  great passion and commitment from his grandmother. His destiny in music was predetermined by the first grade. Jagua has been writing, recording and performing ever since he can remember.

“There is no better feeling in this world to me, than the process of completing a song from scratch, and being able to express those ideas to an audience,” he said. Jagua is a natural, blessed with the gift of catchy melodies, creative ideas, intelligent song structure, and musical insight.

His songs are as colorful as the life he has lived thus far. Jagua has accomplished the rare task of creating a new genre where rock, reggae, pop, and Indian music, all combine into something refreshing and timeless.

He has written songs and performed at major events with the likes of Damian Marley, K’naan, Swollen Members, Moka, Kyprios, Chin Injeti, Ridley Bent, Josh Ramsay, and Tokyo Police Club as well as many others. Jagua has also impressed one of the worlds most credited and successful songwriters, Jim Vallance. Early in his career Jagua’s song “Coolin” reached the top of the Much Music Charts.

In 2006 Jagua was one of the top 10 in the 99.3 Fox Seeds Competition. In April of 2007 Jagua’s song, “Diggin your own grave” was used for the Telus/Whistler Ski and Snowboard festival’s promotional video.

Recently, Jagua has placed several songs on some television shows and Hollywood movies. Jagua has just finished filming a music video awarded by Video Fact for  his summer single “Love.”

Jagua’s fierce enthusiasm and positive energy captivates his audience. Jagua is set to perform on April 19 at the Bell Performing Arts Centre as part of the Vaisakhi — Harvest the Fun concert to be presented by the Surrey City government.
