Teen gang documentary premieres at DOXA film fest


This 44-minute documentary is part of the seventh DOXA festival, presented by the Documentary Media Society.


The society is a non-profit, charitable group devoted to presenting independent and innovative documentaries to Vancouver audience, with a purpose to educate about documentary films as an art form.


DOXA is a curated and juried festival comprising of public screenings, workshops, panel discussions and public forums.


The Warrior Boyz

focuses on Vancouver’s growing gang culture and takes an in-depth look at the root causes of gang violence. To date more than 100 young men from the South Asian community have died in gang-related violence; a pattern similar in other communities across the city.


Director Baljit Sangra has gone beyond the headlines and behind the body count, providing real solutions to this growing epidemic. Baljit Sangra provides a hard-fought hope for the future.


This DOXA premiere screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring director Baljit Sangra, Suke Rai, Vice Principal at Frank Hurt Secondary, ex-gang member and social justice activist Jagdeep Singh Mangat, and M.P. Ujjal Dosanjh.


Tickets are $10 each, Festival Pass: $80 (includes $2 membership)
