Tollywood attracts Canadian beauties

Nehasri Karam, a Canadian resident is the latest addition to the Tollywood list.
The Cananda-based model will be making her Tollywod debut with the film Thathagarintiki, to be directed by PC Aditya.
Tollywood refers to the cinema industry of West Bengal in India
A visibly excited Nehasri, who has her roots in Delhi says, "I play an NRI girl, who wishes to come to India and see her grandfather. It's a cute and bubbly role and I'm really looking forward to my debut."
Ask her on how she bagged the role and the model-turned-actor says, "I''ve always dreamt of becoming an actor. I was part of several fashion shows and hosted a number of TV shows in Canada, and India as well. I also participated in pageants and was also crowned a few times before auditioning for a Telugu movie."
Nehasri is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.
She follows in the footsteps of Priya Banerjee, a Bengali beauty, who was born and brought up in Canada. She made her debut in Kiss, directed by and starring Adivi Sesh.
"I finished my degree in international marketing and computer science recently, but right from my school days, I was drawn to theatre, drama and pageants. So I decided to come to Mumbai in January last year for an acting course. This was my first visit to India and the course really helped me a lot," says Priya, who bagged Kiss only after she returned to Canada.
"A friend on Facebook told me that the makers of a Telugu film are looking for a female lead. Since attending the audition wasn't a feasible option, I recorded a video audition and sent it to them. A week later, I got a call saying I was shortlisted," she shares. Priya then met Adivi Sesh, who narrated the script. "I really liked the story of the rom-com. It's about a girl and her dream.
“I later learnt that I was selected for the role after he had auditioned almost 150 girls," she adds. Ask the Bengali babe why she picked Tollywood to debut with and she says, "I heard so much about the Telugu film industry, which is said to be the second largest in India, after Bollywood. It's an amazing platform and you can grow as an actor here. Moreover, no matter what the language, as long as the script interests me, I'm in. I'm glad this industry is open to actors even from outside of India."
Priya has already signed her next Telugu film. "It's a big and prestigious banner. I will also be working on a Hindi film soon. I really love to be busy," she says.
